Public School Enrolment in Valencia: Dates, Adminova and Late Arrivals

Apply online through Adminova in the ordinary window: for 2026-2027 it ran from 7 to 18 May 2026 for Infantil and Primaria. Foreign children have the same right to a school place. A family that arrives after the window uses the extraordinary or the continuous phase.

Your child has a right to a school place

Foreigners under sixteen have the right and the duty to education, which includes basic, free and compulsory teaching. Those under eighteen also have the right to post-compulsory education.

Los extranjeros menores de dieciséis años tienen el derecho y el deber a la educación, que incluye el acceso a una enseñanza básica, gratuita y obligatoria.

Foreigners under sixteen have the right and the duty to education, including access to basic, free and compulsory teaching.

BOE · Ley Orgánica 4/2000, art. 9.1

A child who turns eighteen during the school year keeps the right until the year ends. Resident foreigners with children of compulsory school age must prove their schooling, with a report from the regional authorities, when they renew a residence authorisation or apply for long-term residence. Enrol your child early: a gap in schooling shows up at your first renewal.

Which schools you apply to

Schools are public or private. Public schools belong to a public administration. Concertado schools are private schools under the legally established concert regime.

The admission process covers public and concertado schools, and in first-cycle Infantil only centres owned by the Generalitat. A private school without a concert is outside it, so you apply to that school directly. The fully private route is covered in the international schools guide.

Admission requires the age and academic requirements of the course you apply for. Admission to publicly funded schools cannot discriminate on grounds including racial or ethnic origin or any other personal or social condition.

The admission calendar

The Generalitat published the 2026-2027 calendar in the DOGV on Monday 2 March 2026. Its ordinary window for Infantil and Primaria ran from 7 to 18 May 2026. Use it to plan the next cycle: the next calendar is not out yet.

Stage Applications Result day
Infantil and Primaria 7 to 18 May 2026 18 June
ESO 21 May to 1 June 2 July
Bachillerato 21 May to 1 June 9 July

Enrolment (matrícula) follows the final lists, online or in person.

Stage Online enrolment In-person enrolment
Infantil and Primaria 18 to 29 June 18 June to 2 July
ESO 2 to 7 July 2 to 8 July
Bachillerato 9 to 14 July 9 to 15 July

Pupils moving up to a linked school confirm their place online from 9 to 23 March 2026. The 2025-2026 procedure page records the previous cycle as published in the DOGV on 14/03/2025.

How to apply online through Adminova

Applications are made online at Adminova (adminova.gva.es), which organises the information by stage.

En el resto de las enseñanzas, las solicitudes deben presentarse exclusivamente de manera telemática, a través de la web Adminova.gva.es, donde se facilita la información estructurada según cada etapa educativa.

For the other stages, applications must be filed exclusively online, through the Adminova.gva.es website, which gives the information structured by stage.

Generalitat Valenciana · Comunica GVA, 2 March 2026

Special-education centres and units take applications in person. Schools must give access to the procedure to people without electronic means.

  1. Check the age and academic requirements of the course.
  2. Sign the application: it counts as a declaración responsable that every circumstance you claim is true and can be proven with documents at enrolment.
  3. If you want a school in both its language lines, list both base languages. A single base language means no access to places in the other line.
  4. Enrol in the set period. Omitting enrolment means giving up the place.
  5. At enrolment, provide documents proving the points you claimed. The accepted proofs are listed in Title IX of the Conselleria’s admission order.

Enrolment in Infantil, Primaria or ESO had no fee on the 2025-2026 procedure page. It names those three stages, not Bachillerato, so ask the school what Bachillerato costs.

What goes wrong

False or insufficiently documented data annul the application, and the pupil goes to a school with vacancies. Missing the enrolment period counts as giving up the place.

Health records for school are covered in the children’s healthcare guide.

How the points work

A school with more applicants than places ranks them. Pupils already in the school come first, then pupils from linked schools who confirm their place. The rest are ranked by points.

The scale below comes from Decreto 48/2024. Tip: check the scale on Adminova before you apply, in case a later change applies.

Circumstance Points
Each sibling enrolled in the requested school 15
Home or workplace in the school’s area of influence 10
Home or workplace in an area bordering it 5
Per-capita income up to half the IPREM 7
Large family, special category 7
Large family, general category 5
Parent works at the school 7
Pupil’s own disability of 65% or more 7

Siblings applying for the first time in the Comunitat Valenciana, or moving from another locality, earn 15 points each. That applies in Infantil and Primaria only, if one of them gets a place. A tie is settled by the criteria in order, then by public draw.

In general an area of influence covers a whole municipality, and the territorial directorates decide which localities need more than one.

If you could not apply in the ordinary round

Pupils who need a place unexpectedly in the locality and could not apply in the ordinary period may take part in the extraordinary phase. That phase is for places left vacant after the ordinary phase. Pupils without a place after it go to the schooling commission, which offers a place at a school with vacancies.

If you arrive once the school year has started

Pupils who need schooling unexpectedly once the school year has started follow the continuous phase. After the ordinary process ends, the territorial education directorate takes measures for pupils who need a place for urgent or special reasons. Start with the schools nearest your new home: ask which have vacancies and file the request the same week.

– Traslado de residencia de la unidad familiar procedente de otra … – Incorporación tardía al sistema educativo.

– Move of the family unit’s residence from another locality … – Late entry into the education system.

DOGV · Conselleria admission order of 24 April 2024, art. 60.2

The law guarantees pupils arriving from abroad a place at compulsory school age. They are placed in the most suitable year, based on their circumstances, knowledge, age and academic record, with support.

Common questions

Can my child get a public school place as a foreigner?

Yes. Foreigners under sixteen have the right and the duty to education, which includes basic, free and compulsory teaching. Those under eighteen also have the right to post-compulsory education. The right includes the qualification and access to public grants on the same terms as Spaniards.

When do school applications open?

For 2026-2027, applications for Infantil and Primaria ran from 7 to 18 May 2026, and for ESO and Bachillerato from 21 May to 1 June 2026. The next calendar is not published yet. The 2026-2027 one appeared in the DOGV on 2 March 2026.

Do I pay an enrolment fee?

Not in Infantil, Primaria or ESO: enrolment in those stages had no fee on the 2025-2026 procedure page. It names those three stages, not Bachillerato. Ask the school what Bachillerato costs. Concertado schools are privately owned schools under the concert regime, and admission rules apply to them as well.

Can I apply on paper?

Mostly no: applications are made online through Adminova, except at special-education centres and units, where they are filed in person. Schools must give access to the procedure to people without electronic means. Ask your first-choice school if you have no digital certificate or device.

What do I sign when I apply?

Your signature counts as a declaración responsable: every circumstance you claim must be true and provable with documents when you enrol. If you want a school in both its language lines, list both base languages. Listing one base language means no access to places in the other line.

How are school places decided?

By priority and then points. Pupils already in the school come first, then pupils from linked schools who confirm their place. After that, points decide: for example 15 points per sibling in the school and 10 for a home or workplace in its area of influence. Ties are settled by public draw.

What if my child arrives after the application window?

You still have a route. Pupils who need a place unexpectedly and could not apply in the ordinary period may take part in the extraordinary phase. Pupils who need schooling once the school year has started follow the continuous phase. A move from another locality and late entry to the education system count as urgent reasons.

What happens if I give false information?

The application is annulled: false or insufficiently documented data lead to the application being annulled. The pupil is then placed in a school that still has vacancies. Keep proof of the circumstances you claim: you provide it when you enrol.
